When you use our website and / or are in contact with us to enter into a business relationship or other relationship with us, Thefactory AS and its subsidiaries will process personal data about you. Below you will therefore find information about personal data that are collected, why we do this and your rights related to the processing of personal data.

Why we collect personal data and the information we collect

We collect and use your personal information for different purposes depending on who you are and how we get in touch with you. We collect the following personal information for the purposes stated here:

1.1 When establishing a business relationship in the form of a participation in a startup -, mentorship- or partner- program, or for the purpose of taking part in an investment opportunity: Full name, birthdate or social security number (only when required) email- address, postal address, telephone – number as well as LinkedIn & other personal competence profiles, pictures and videos. We collect this information in order to fulfill our contractual or compliance obligations and/or help you with what you might be inquiring about.

 1.2 When sending marketing, newsletters and providing information about our business: E-mail address. This takes place on the basis of your given consent.

1.3 To answer enquiries that come to us: Name, telephone number, e-mail address and any personal information that may result from the inquiry. The processing of personal data takes place on the basis of a balance of interests. We deem that this is often necessary to help you with what you might be inquiring about.

1.4 Recruitment for new positions or internships with us: CV, application, certificates and references. The processing of personal data takes place on the basis of your given consent.

1.5 When scouting for new startups: Full name, email- address, telephone – number. The processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us.

1.6 To obtain information about the use of our websites, we use cookies. You can read more about cookies and which cookies we use in our Cookie Policy (Link) and where you may choose to give your consent to our use of the different types of cookies. We process personal data on the basis of a balance of interests. We have considered it necessary for us to do this in order to adapt the website to our users’ needs.

However, we safeguard your privacy by only using the information for preferences, marketing and statistics. In the statistics, it is not possible to identify you as an individual.

Disclosure of personal data to others

We do not pass on your personal information to others unless there is a legal basis for such disclosure or unless you have given your explicit consent. Examples of such a basis will typically be an agreement with you or a legal basis that requires us to release the information.

Thefactory and its subsidiaries use data processors to collect, store or otherwise process personal information on our behalf. In such cases, we have entered into agreements to ensure information security in all stages of the processing. All processing of personal data that we carry out takes place within the EU / EEA area - or if outside of the EU, model contract clauses approved by the European Commission are applied as a means of ensuring adequate protection when transferring data outside of the EU/EEA.

Online Community Policy

TheFactory’s website, blog, Facebook page, Medium site, Twitter page, LinkedIn profile and other digital platforms were created to encourage conversations about the startup industry and our work. We welcome everyone to join the conversation but reserve the right to remove and block users who post content in any of the following categories: graphic, obscene, explicit, abusive or racial comments towards an individual or organization. We understand and respect one’s right to disagree or offer constructive criticism on viewpoints expressed on this page but will not tolerate personal attacks or harassment, third party advertisements and solicitations for products or services,comments that encourage illegal activity, repeated posts to our page or tagging TheFactory in posts containing content that is completely unrelated to our area of focus. Our online community is meant to build relationships and support our community as a whole. Please respect our organization and each other to reach the full benefits of having this place of conversation.

Storage time

We store your personal information with us for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which the personal information was collected.

This means, for example, that personal data that we process on the basis of your consent will be deleted if you withdraw your consent. Personal data we process to fulfill an agreement with you is deleted when the agreement has been fulfilled and all obligations arising from the contractual relationship have been fulfilled, including statutory obligations.

Your rights when we process personal data about you

You have the right to demand access, correction or deletion of the personal data we process about you. You also have the right to demand limited processing, direct objections to the processing and demand the right to data portability. To exercise your rights, you must send an inquiry by email to Head of Administration at Thefactory AS, Pia Gellein Merkesdal -  pia@thefactory.no. We will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible, and no later than 30 days.

We will ask you to confirm your identity or provide additional information before we allow you to exercise your rights against us. We do this to make sure that we only give access to your personal information to you - and not someone who pretends to be you.

You can at any time withdraw your consent for the processing of personal data with us. The easiest way to do this is to send an email to pia@thefactory.no.

Complaints

If you believe that our processing of personal data does not comply with what we have described here or that we in other ways violate the privacy legislation, then you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
